The calendar year. Four seasons.
Life? That's up for grabs.
When I became a parent, one of the things that hit me most was that I was going to have the privilege of leading a human through each season of life until they could do it for themselves.
Life changes. It's fluid and dynamic. Personally, I'm grateful to God for this.
Consider the vows a couple make on their wedding day - sickness and health, weath and poverty, young and old. Life throws everything at us and it is never static.
And yet, one thing remains. Our identities as children of God - forgiven, redeemed and inheritors or a resurrection reality does not change when circumstances do.
In the bridge of 'Desert Song' by Hillsong United, the refrain rings out:
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
How can this be? How is it that in every season of life we have a reason to worship? Because God never changes. His love never changes. His forgiveness never changes.
And that means our hope never changes.
